We suffered our first loss last night 6-3. It was the first good team and pitcher we have faced this year and definitely showed our areas of weakness. They were really up and into the game and we just weren't. The talent is there but the attitudes and work ethic needed to win isn't. I think part of it has to do with that fact that we are still on summer vacation. They aren't in a disciplined environment all day and it carries over onto the field. We are struggling to think of ways to motivate and push them. Chewing them out hasn't worked so maybe lots of running will do the trick. There might be a good leader in the bunch somewhere but she has yet to step up and help her team out. It's so different from how I was as a player that it's hard for me to understand how they can be so nonchalant. Definitely a new challenge as a coach and something to think about.
