One little baby step at a time we are making progress and my sanity is remaining in tact. It's a amazing what a fresh attitude and resolve (and sunshine) will do for a more productive classroom. The biggest drama of the day was a spider that was dropping down from the ceiling and absolutely freaking everyone out. It was up so high that I could barely reach it and it seemed very happy to just hang out up there but it was fairly clear that we weren't going to get anything done until it was gone. They were all staring at it and started to scream if it moved. Not a great learning environment. One girl was literally in tears because she was so "terrified." I killed it and scary spider is no more. Good grief.
Additionally, we are going outside for recess and I am finally sitting down with the principal for my evaluation tomorrow. I also learned that it looks like no one will be riffed for financial reasons this year. Only if they're not good teachers. Hm Mm. I'll let you know how that works out.
